Form I-130 – Petition for Alien Relative

• Used by U.S. citizens or green card holders to prove a family relationship with a relative seeking to immigrate.

• Often the first step in helping a family member get a green card. Commonly known as the I-130 petition.

EB-5 Investor Visa
Grants a green card to investors who:

• Invest in a new U.S. business

• Create or preserve 10+ full-time U.S. jobs

Spouses and unmarried children under 21 may also qualify.

B-1/B-2 Tourist & Business Visas

• The B-1 visa is for short-term business travel (e.g., meetings, conferences).

• The B-2 visa covers tourism, visiting family, or medical visits.

• Often issued as a combined B-1/B-2 visa for both purposes.

Note: For academic study, apply for an F-1 student visa.

Temporary Work Visa
Allows individuals to work in the U.S. for a specific employer for a limited time.

Steps to apply:

1. Secure a job offer from a U.S. employer

2. Employer files a petition with USCIS

3. Apply for a visa after approval

Types include H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, and more, based on job and qualifications.

The F-1 visa is for academic students entering the U.S. temporarily to study at a DHS-approved school.

Apply for an F-1 if attending:

• College or university

• High school or private elementary

• Seminary or conservatory

• Language training or other academic programs

Citizenship & Naturalization Services
